TESTIMONIALS FROM PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT OUR PUPPIES!
Hi Doreen; This is me Anita, little Mieko's grandma. I hope God blesses you everyday for all the joy and pleasure you gave to Ila and me when you called Ila and said " Mieko is here". First of all, I want to be a typical grandma and brag about how smart my little granddaughter with a fur coat is. She loves music and let's you know something is on that she doesn't like. She will bark, bark, bark until you change it to something she does like. She hates the music from the show a Chorus Line but loves the music from Mary Poppins. She even has a favorite song from that one. She likes the waltz and mostly music from the 40's, 50's and 60's. She watched Fiddler On The Roof last week on TV and really seemed to enjoy it. She likes to play on Ila's bed and will ask me to put her up there. If I put her on Ila's bed and tell her to call me when she wants to get down (the bed is high) she does it. She has one special bark for calling me. Just one bark a certain way and that's it. If I forget to tell her to call me she just jumps off herself. Ila lives in a ground floor apartment . Tomieko sits on top of the back of a big comfort chair and looks out the window a lot, Sometimes while doing that our little darling kneels. I never in my entire life saw a dog do that. Every once in a while when she is sitting on the seat of the chair she will move to the edge and then she crosses her back legs like a person would. When I am at Ila's house she likes me to sit in that big chair with her. So of course she calls me with that one bark special that she has for me. She gets frozen peas for her treat. When Mieko wants her treat and we aren't paying attention to her she will go and pick up a piece of paper or something else she shouldn't have and just sit there and stare at us. She will not drop the paper until we have gone to the freezer and taken out the peas for her. I find this next one extraordinary...at times when Ila is on the computer, she has a laptop with the touch pad and the mouse, and our precious little Tomieko sees Ila using the touch pad to move the cursor she take her paw and moves Ila's hand so she can put her paw on to do it also. Now let me tell you what a personality this special angel has. She wins the heart of every person that comes in contact with her. People that dislike dogs or are afraid of dogs all fall in love with Tomieko Joy. Ila has had neighbors that are going on a trip knock on her door and ask if they can take a picture of Mieko to take with them on their trip to show people. Besides being sweet, kind, smart, fun and most of all loving she is beautiful. The biggest brown eyes I ever did see. She is just like a one and a half or 2 year old child. So for all of this pleasure and love you have made it possible for us to have...thank you Doreen, thank you VERY !!! much. Mieko's Grandma, Anita |

Hello! and Happy New Year to you, your husband and wonderful Anna!!
May your year be full of happy memories, great health and fun times.
It was a year ago today you bless'd us with Theodore, the joy of my
life. He is quite the little character. His favorite toy is a small
ball that glow's in the dark. He spends time batting that ball back and
forth entertaining himself. Then when he wants us to play also, he
literally goes bonkers, lol.
Everyone has noticed when he is 'deep in thought batting the little
ball ' with his front paws, that his paws actually turn outward so he
is waddling like a duck. A few days ago he began heading down the foyer
into the kitchen continuously batting the ball between his two paws he
reminded me of our oldest son who played soccer. Theo look'd just like
the kids do when coming down the field kicking the ball back and forth
between their legs, lol.
Another of his very favorite things too do is to open the cupboard
doors, especially the pantry door. He bat's it open with his little
front paws and literally gets it open. Roy came home a few times to
find the hefty garbage bags all over the kitchen floor, as Theo was
just having fun sliding around on the plastic garbage bags. I know
finding him a permanent name was a bit of a challenge, but I have too
tell you Theodore fits him perfectly.
If you have ever watched Alvin and the Chipmunks, and how theodore gets
into mischief? Yep, thats our little Theo, lol
Hope all is well with you and everyone in your lovely family.
I can not express enough how very bless'd we are to have this little
wonderful bundle of energy and joy and how very thankful we are too you
for being 'you'. Your such a wonderful breeder, so kind and
compassionate... you are truly my angel. I will never forget the first
night we spoke on the phone.
How are the plans for the new litter coming?
How was your Christmas and New Years?
Take care, Happy New Year and please keep in touch
Regards,
Kate, Theo and Roy

Hi Doreen!
Well its been almost a year since we drove the trip from Ohio to Chicago in a snow storm to pick up Bella. She was spayed a couple of months ago and is doing wonderful. The only thing is there's not enough of her to go around, she is so unbelievably sweet we cant get enough of her so I was thinking about adding another addition to our family. I wouldn't even consider going to any other breeder but you since Bella is such a wonderful part of our family. I noticed when I went to your website to start looking that you have some due in February from honey. Are those puppies already spoken for, I would love to have one. And if so could you please put me on the waiting list for a companion for Bella. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks Tracey Hitchens
__________________________________________________Hi Doreen, I've been thinking about you! Meant to write, but it's been SOOO busy. Sorry. Herbie IS THE GREATEST BOY!!!!! We are TOTALLY in love with him. He is a real little boy, very male, LOL. And extremely affectionate. A one or two person dog, though. He doesn't give his heart and soul to just anyone! He's my boy, but he is also close to Sarah. And he adores Dot. Her feelings for him have been improving. She lets him win the small battles, and often he can be found hanging off of her droopy ears! She pretty much puts up with it. But when he takes her bone...wow. Forget about it! Herbie LOVES to go outside to do his business. He wants to do anything that Dot does, and he is a quick study. He is 1/2 pee pad trained, and 1/2 outside trained. But he's designing this program himself, kind of. I'm pretty easy going. And we seem to have hit a rhythm, or a "new normal", for him and Dot. Anyway, he is just a dream of a dog. I can't imagine why everyone doesn't have a Shih Tzu. Of course, not everyone can have a Herbie, right? He's special. I don't think he's grown tremendously, but he is of course bigger. I don't have a picture, as I'm not "digital". But we could visit! How are you and Anna? Say "hi" to Herbie's mom for me, okay? I'll never forget her trying to give me messages the day I came to bring him home. Best to you, your family, and all the pooches! Michal |
___________________________________________________ Hi Doreen- I got my puppy Tila from you about a year ago and I wanted to let you know what a perfect dog she has turned out to be. She's truly the love of my life, so sweet and energetic. She is great with people and other dogs! Zack and Tiffany __________________________________________________ |
Hi Doreen,
Just wanted to let you know that I took Bella to the vet a few of weeks ago and she checked out perfectly! That little porker weighed 7.8 lbs. I love her to death, she is momm'y baby girl! You should see her hopp, it's the cutest thing. My mom and dad fell in love with her so I might be getting another one from you in the future. I have some pics and I'll try to email them to you tonight. Take care! Tracey
__________________________________________________Dear Doreen;
I've wanted to write this note to you for a very long time. So here goes. Thank you for making it possible for me to have the most wonderful experience of my life. My darling little Tomieko Joy is an absolute delight. Mieko is now 10 months old. She is smart, beautiful, sweet, devilish, cute, curious and very entertaining. (my mom jokes that she must have been a stage entertainer in another life) I awake to Mieko's adorable little face in mine and that starts the day with a smile on my face. I could probably go on and on about this delightful little being that I am so blessed to have, but I will close with another great big thank you from the bottom of my heart. Love Ila

Dear Doreen and Anna,
The puppies are so darling and love me and each other so much – they are so fun to watch and encourage. They are VERY SMART!!!!!
They have the cutest personalities, and they love to be held and kissed (which pleases me, of course).
They have adapted to being kenneled during the day while I’m at work (which I didn’t think I would be doing), however, I come home for lunch and play with them and let them outside and then I’m always back again by dinner and we have a wonderful time all evening. They also have the habit of coming to bed with me after my husband lets them outside about 6 am. The babies and my snooze until about 8 am and then I get ready for work.
This won’t be forever, but they seem to be very happy in their kennel and jump into it very willingly when I say “Get into your house” and then I give them a reward.
They are so loving and sweet and are my little darlings. They love being held and they absolutely love playing together. They run, chase, tumble and play games around the furniture legs that just make me laugh constantly.
Also, little Pepper is about 2 pounds lighter than Ginger. So I call him Freddie Pepper Astaire and she is Ginger Rogers. She looks like she has on a flowing gown of gold and he looks like he’s a dapper in a Tux. They are so cute!!!! He weights 4 lbs. 12 oz. and she weights 6 lbs. 12 oz.
One other thing you’ll enjoy…Pepper is just a loving as Ginger, but on his own terms, but when it comes time to snuggle, he’s right on my neck and when he yawns he squeaks. It’s so cute!!
I love these little pups and am so glad I chose them.
Hope to send you some pictures tonight!
Sue

Ruby is GREAT! She loves it here. She is doing wonderfully on the house training thing, she snuggles in our bed at night and she is GROWING! Ruby is almost bigger than my sister's yorkie now. She has really changed in color too! If I get her a hair cut she's going to look like a completely different dog. I've been trimming her myself here and there. She is really light colored on her inner fur now. She is so fun and so cute. We love her and are so happy we made the trip. Very soon I am going to be scheduling her appointment to have her spayed so that I have the day off and can be with her. Sometime in September I suppose. Hope all is well with you.......more new puppies coming soon at your house???? I'll get you some photos soon---it'll probably be faster if I just send them through the mail =)Candy and Aili

Hi Doreen,
I have wanted to write to you for awhile now to tell you about Lexi. I am SO glad that I saw that woman in the park who owned two dogs from you! Lexi is absolutely the best dog I have ever seen. She is sweet, obedient, loving and so happy. On top of that everywhere we go with her we have people ask us about her and comment on how beautiful she is. It is taking all the self-control we have not to purchase another dog! I thought I'd let you know that she is fine, healthy and so, so loved.
Thanks for caring for the dogs you raise and for Lexi. She is such a gift to our family.
Sincerely,
Laura

Doreen:
Marlene was trying to take my baby Olivia home over Easter she just loves D'Arcy and Olivia. Those two are nuts together....they sleep together, eat together, play together and every night it's like a car wash D'Arcy sits while Olivia licks her ear and side D'Arcy is soaked by the time the treatment is done. Olivia is the more alpha but D'Arcy can jump high so it does not bother her. Olivia is vertically challenged she can not jump up or down from furniture to short. They both love to be outside but I am having trouble with them barking and going crazy when other dogs go by on our walks. Any suggest ? They just want to say hello and are nice to other dogs but go nuts if they can't freely get to them.

Hi Doreen,
I have wanted to send an update on our babies for so long now.....they are both doing great! Now that Spring is here and they can go in the backyard...I really wish you could see them. They never stop running and chasing each other. It is so much more than I could have hoped for. They are the best of friends, in fact, as I am typing this they are both sitting next to each other on the desk and watching out the window as the world goes by.
I think Happy is very glad Paris joined the family because now Shadow leaves her alone and plays mostly with Paris. What is really strange is I think both Shadow and Paris realize that Happy is older and can't run and play as they do and it is almost like they try to respect that and leave her to her favorite chair and resting spot.
I had Paris spayed about two months ago and all went well. She had this little tiny incision on her tummy - I think there was enough room for maybe two stitches. They did it by laser so it wasn't much. She came through it just fine.
I love them all so much. I hope all is well with you and your family, it sure is with mine!

Hi Doreen! My cousin Diane picked up Crunch, know
known as Jubei, last year. I just wanted to give you
an update on our baby Jubei. He is our life and we
treat him like he is our child. We spoil him and have
no problem with it. He loves playing with all his
toys, especially his blue stretchy salamandar. He also
adores the snow. We visit his litter mate Bella
whenever we can and he plays so much, that he tires
himself out. While he loves the dogs we are "related"
too, he's a bit shy with others. He loves women and
girls, but not very keen on men, except his daddy and
his cousin. Everyone that sees him, thinks he is the
cutest thing and I couldn't agree more. I am thinking
about getting another Shih Tzu in a year or so and I
will definitely go through you. I wanted to thank you
for everything. Nothing feels better than to come home
to Jubei greeting me with kisses and excitement. Enjoy
the pictures (they're a bit old). I'll send you
current pictures soon.

Hi,
Just wanted to keep you updated on our baby!!! GOD DO WE LOVE HER!!! Everyone who comes over just ADORES her!!! Thank you so much!!! She is still the ultimate alarmclock - which wasn't the best thing over break!!! 6:45 Zoey wake up call!!! She just needs to have people in the room, she doesn't always need to sit with you, she likes her quiet time laying on the rug by the door, but she does like to socialize, when SHE wants to socialize. She loves biting on my hands to play. She LOVES all her toys. And her chew toys. I think she lost a tooth or 2. She's getting better at baths, and explores the house a little bit more. We still keep her mostly on the hardwood. She will have accidents is she gets all wound up playing. We learned, after a hard play session, to take her out right away. She is going outside really well. If we can just get her to stop eating poop!!!! We call her immediately after her business, and usually she will come running up to you and into the house. But if you take your eyes off her, and she has a free moment to turn around - you done!!!! We're learned to pick up the poop right away!!!! I have to say the men in the house and total suckers for her!!! I laugh everytime I catch John interacting with her alone!!! HE adores her!!! She is just really sweet!! I think I need to think about grooming. I clipped around her feet, and her nails. But the face!!! WOW her hair is long. Can't wait for you to see her. I need to call this week for an appointment!! I'll keep you updated!!
Chris

I can't believe he is 6lbs either!! He doesn't seem like he weighs that much- except for his beautiful fluffy coat. He is definitely a good eater! I did away with the canned food and am only giving him the dry now. He just wasn't into the wet food.
Other than that, he is doing fantastic! He knows how to sit now, so that was an accomplishment. He really listens very well to all of us! What a smart puppy!
Everyone loves his awesome green eyes- the people at the vet today were admiring him today- He is just such a handsome lil devil!
During playtime, he'll set up all of his toys and run from one end of the condo to the other, almost like an obstacle course and take a chomp on each toy along the way. It's hilarious! He really is a barrel of fun! He loves to sleep on his back- He looks so cute when he is all sprawled out- almost like a human!
We love him so much! Thank you!!
Updated pics to come soon!
Take care,
Tina

Hi Doreen,
I'm so glad you got the card! Sorry it's taking so long to get back to you...I don't have access to computer when I'm not work (not that I miss it!). Anyway, a little update....
We weighed Bella yesterday and she's 3 pounds! She eats like a hog--she loves the puppy canned food which she gets in the morning and in the evening and she, of course, gets the dry kibble all the time. She has adjusted so well with her crate, her bag and even her travel crate. She treats each one like her little home. She doesn't put up a big fuss when she's in her kennel although she does cry out when I put her in there during the day. But she doesn't cry out for more than a couple of minutes and she settles in right away. Bella is also a pro at housebreaking, especially going potty outside. Almost right away, she goes outside when she's placed on the grass. But on the whole, she is really transitioning a lot better than I hoped. She's also great at night--we move her crate in the bedroom at night and she will settle in quietly. She can hold on for the rest of the night and not have accidents inside the crate. She's great at just being in her crate and chewing on her toys.
Oscar and Bella also get a long so well! They play ALL the time that she tires out Oscar. She follows him everywhere and steals all his toys. Sometimes he lets her steals them, and then sometimes, he will keep it. A couple of times, I actually caught her trying to lift her leg up to pee--which I think she saw Oscar do! She's very fiesty and Oscar's size doesn't intimidate her a bit. She will climb all over him, steal toys from his mouth, and will stand a couple of feet behind him while he eats (she tries to steal his food--which I've caught her doing a couple of times). There are toys everywhere because they are constantly playing with them and bringing them from one room to the next. We have introduced Bella to my big family over Christmas eve where everyone just loved her. She wore her dress and everyone was just thrilled to meet her. But she lasted for about a half hour and she slept through the whole event, content to wake up to eat and go to the bathroom.
I have more photos to send but I will send them when I get back to work and I have a faster connection than dial up. She has quite a lot of clothes--sweaters and coats as it is cold outside and because she's just too cute wearing them.
Anyway, have a happy new year and keep on the look out for more photos!

My daughter, Kendra & I had been thinking about adding another family member to home for 2 years. We did plenty of research on the type of dog that we thought would be suitable for us. We were both in total agreement that we wanted to have a Shih Tzu puppy for many reasons, they were known to be good family dogs, had sweet temperaments, didn't shed, smart, etc. We visited other breeders and dog stores, yet none were the perfect fit. Then in May of 2006, we met with Doreen and Anna who breed and raise Shih Tzu puppies. As soon as we laid our eyes on the puppy that we went to visit, we knew that he was going to be our dog! We saw the environment in which Doreen raised her dogs. They were all visible and extremely loveable and friendly! The fact was, I had not had a dog in many years, so I had a lot of questions for Doreen. She was the most patient person at providing all the details which I needed to hear. Once we made our decision to purchase our sweet little puppy, she also encouraged us to come back and visit him so that he would get familiar with us. I really like that she keeps her puppies until they are 10 weeks old. She does not rush them into their new owner's home until they are ready to be weaned and leave their parents and siblings.
Now for the precious details for our sweet puppy, Skiddles. In our eyes, he is truly the sweetest, smartest, cutest & most loveable puppy in the world. His personality is so sweet. He only had a couple of accidents his 1st week in our home, after that he became totally potty trained. On 9/16/2006, Skiddles will be 6 months old, and he's never had another accident in our house. He has brought so much joy and love by his presence in our home, that we feel like he's been part of our lives forever!
I believe the reason for Skiddles sweet temperament is because Doreen and Anna truly love and care about their dogs. Their goal is to breed healthy and loving dogs. And we are a total testament to the phenomenal job they have done.
We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful dog and so fortunate that we got him from such loving & dedicated people who care!!
Many happy years of breeding Sweet Shih Tzu's!! We love your dogs!!
Gwen & Kendra Alexander

Doreen, here’s a picture of Luke after his first haircut, he’s doing great. He was 7 lbs. at his last Vet visit to finish his puppy shots and he just has to get his Rabies and he’ll be street legal. He gets along great with our female Lucy the two of them love to wrestle, Luke more than Lucy but when he gets to be a little too much she just lays on top of him until he calms down a little. We’ll try not to be pests but keep you up to date on his progress. Thanks again John & Norma

Doreen, I just want you to know there is not a second that goes by that I dont think of Sugar, she will be safe and with a loving family ...she doesent know it but I need her more then she knows ...I really cant wait to get her she is all I think of ...thank you for such a beautiful dog and a caring person to take care of her before I get her ....she will always be safe with us . Christine
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for Lexi, she is GREAT. It just killed me but last Friday we had her spayed. Everywhere we go with her, people LOVE her and always comment on how beautiful she is. Last week at the park people were trying to convince us to breed her. I'll have to send you pictures. Her tail is beginning to get grey streaks (like her owner!) Her temperment is wonderful. She listens great and is a full fledge member of the family. Completely potty trained (just have to teach her to make noise at the door). The kids have done fantastic with her...they are very protective of her and love to walk her. She weighs 10.8 now! We are SO glad we found you. Lexi is a joy!
Have a great day. Laura
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoey and Wrigley are the best. We took them down to Palatine Street Fest this sunday because they had a
dog parade and we kept getting stopped by people inquiring about the breed. Everyone thinks Zoey is a
puppy! We are starting obedience training in October. They are very good and listen well, but we want them to understand basic commands. The problem is that they know commands in Spanish but not in English. Sounds funny but Matt and I are very fluent in Spanish and we wanted them to be bilingual, but unfortunately they respond better to the Spanish than the English. We would love to see you and the gang!
Take Care,
Katie
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Doreen,
Just a note to say that Cocoa is doing GREAT! She is sleeping 9 hours, so we settle down a bit later and therefore, she sleeps a little longer. She is eating fine and getting used to her surroundings. Only 2 little accidents but it is truly 'cause she is so excited to see you! Very fun! Even this morning, she is venturing into the yard a little farther - loves to grab rocks! You did a great job with her - she is awesome!
Thanks!
Patty

Hi Doreen,
Today was a very big day for Ollie..... Today was his very 1st haircut!!! Oh My God, does he look so handsome!
I couldn't have dreamed for a better dog than Ollie, and now he is starting to clean Mickey all the time! It puts Mickey right to sleep when he does that. He is such a sweetheart, I have to admit that mornings are one of my favorite times to share with him, because as soon as I come downstairs we lay on the couch together and he give kisses nonstop and loves to nuzzle up to me, I just can't get enough of him sometimes.
Keep in touch, and hopefully we will get together very soon.
Sincerely,
Tara
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Doreen....
Shadow is doing wonderful! My Mom was here for two weeks and threatened over and over to steal her away from me. She was just in on Friday for her rabies shot (1 year) and got a clean bill of health. She is up to 5.2 lbs. and eats like a little cow. I've been calling her my little chunky monkey. I better be careful, she will start to think that is her name.
Unlike Happy, she loves being outside. She likes to lay in the front yard and watch the world go by. She has her favorite toys of course, one of which is a stuffed cow. The cow is about as big as she is and she will drag it all over the house, wrestling it all the way. She is so funny.
She has managed to get Happy to play with her a few times but we still have a ways to go. The other night they were both tearing through the house. Shadow in the lead and Happy hot on her trail. I hope it happens more often because Happy could surely use the exercise.
Anyway, wanted to update you on your baby. She is doing wonderful and I love her dearly.
Carol

Teddy is doing great, he is such a sweetie, we love him sooooooooo much.
I havent had a chance to take any pictures of him yet, but i will be taking
